St. Mary’s Margaret House Offers Boston’s Families a Haven
Susan Corcoran, a Milton, Massachusetts prosecutor, is an assistant district attorney with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office. Outside of her work as a prosecutor, Susan Corcoran was a board member and continues to support St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children, a center that provides various programs to assist Boston residents in need.
St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children is a multi-service organization that focuses on eradicating the cycle of poverty and homelessness that cripples women and families. The Center empowers these people by providing access to education, workforce development, and housing. One of the Center’s many programs includes the Margaret House. The Margaret House, in particular, offers accommodation to 32 homeless families.
Other available services include crisis stabilization, case management/advocacy, and on-site healthcare through Boston Health Care for the Homeless. Parents can enroll in programs that teach skills ranging from budgeting to substance abuse recovery. They have access to a library and join the Center’s book clubs. Alternatively, young children can play in the infant/toddler playrooms and benefit from Margaret House’s therapeutic programming for children.
